Anita Speaks with Dendy Media.
In this exclusive interview Anita speaks with Dendy Media through her personal story, her work, her definition of success, and her most recent publication, Cultivating Change from the Inside Out.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Metaphorically my life has been filled with doors, bridges, and choices that called for action on my part to either move forward or risk being stuck in limbo. When I dissect my life, I recognize that as I moved from one season to another, the key was formulating my own definition of success. In my journey through doors and across bridges, I passed through five distinct seasons of my life: a traumatized little girl, an awakening adolescent, a nurturing young adult, an evolving grown woman, and the liberated woman I see in myself today.
These seasons have all been stepping stones to a higher purpose. Along the way I came to terms with trauma, guilt, and depression, a boulder that had blocked my path for decades. Along the way I made career decisions that moved me from a scientist in basic research to pharmaceutical R&D. From pharmaceutical R&D, I moved into learning and development, leadership in diversity and inclusion, and project leadership. On the last leg of my corporate career, things began to change in my work environment, and I came to realize that I was being called into a different purpose for my life going forward.
So, I walked away and began to build The Place to SOAR, a social enterprise dedicated to cultivating change through daily growth and personal development for the purpose of unleashing human potential. Hence, my work as a life coach.
