30 Nov What Do You Do to Activate Positive Affirmation?
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
— Alice Walker

Do you believe that repetition of words creates repetition of thoughts, and repetition of thoughts creates reality?
Whatever your answer, here’s a challenge for you: Try these 6 Powerhouse Tips for Activating Positive Affirmations and see what happens. Start by recognizing the words you already speak to yourself.
Do any of these statements sound familiar?
“I’ll never be able to start this new business that I’ve been dreaming about; I’m just not smart enough to pull it off.”
“I wish I had the courage to ask for that raise I know I deserve. I don’t know how to assert myself and, even worse, I let my boss walk all over me. I’m never going to get ahead. I’m such a loser and I never get anything right.”
“Why do my friends even ask me to go out with them? I really think they secretly hate me. I’m not outgoing, I don’t dress like they do, and I’m pretty sure I always put off a negative vibe. I’m a terrible friend.”
“I don’t know why I even bother to try. Nothing ever seems to go my way.”
It’s all too common to allow ourselves to have negative thoughts like this.
Many of us do it on a regular basis and aren’t even aware of it. For whatever reason, human beings tend to let their negative mind overrule their positive mindand it’s wreaking havoc on our confidence, mood, and goals. As a result, these negative thoughts can drag down our personal lives, our relationships, and even our careers.
So, what if we intentionally do the opposite and practice positive thoughts about ourselves? The effect can be just as powerful but far more helpful.

What Are Affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes, become more motivated, and experience more success in meeting your life goals.
Self-fulfilling prophecy is another way of looking at affirmations. It is a process by which a false expectation leads to its own confirmation through a cycle of beliefs, expectations, behaviors, and results.
Yet, did you know that there are ways you can actually supercharge your affirmations and make them even more powerful, even transformative? Let’s explore some strategies that can help you change the way you talk to yourself.
1. Make your affirmations active
Affirmations can help take your reality from negative to positive in just a few minutes. Even if their effects are mild to begin with, over time, making your affirmations active will help you grow a more positive existence.
2. Include positive emotions
An affirmation can work because it has the ability to program your mind into believing the stated concept. This works best when you include positive emotions when writing or verbalizing affirmations.
The simplest way to start writing affirmations is to write a series of “I am” statements that describe what you want to have or experience.
3. Keep it short
Short affirmations work best because they keep you focused on the target and are easier to remember. There are ways and styles in writing affirmations that can be amazingly effective. Take a moment, sit down, and write out some of your own short affirmations. They are great at instantly building up your self-esteem!
4. Stay in the present
Keeping your affirmations in the present tense helps to encourage you to go to work on them right away. Th8ough few would even consider writing a positive self-talk statement in the past tense, many make the mistake of projecting what they want into the future.

5. Keep it positive
An affirmation is the process of affirming or declaring the truth of something. Affirmations can be both negative and positive. Positive affirmations are statements made to challenge your negative thoughts and feelings.
On the other hand, there are negative affirmation words that can trip you up. Never use negative affirmation words like not, can’t, won’t, avoid, never, give up, ignore, no longer, refuse, stop, quit, or don’t. Negative affirmations will only work against you.
6. Make it achievable
I’m not saying you shouldn’t dream. Your dreams should be big and intimidating enough to stretch you beyond your comfort zone. However, they should also be within the realm of reason.
For instance, writing an affirmation that says, “I will win the lottery,” is trying to make something happen that you really don’t have any control over.

Practice using your positive mind by reading this out loud:
I am smart.
I am blessed.
I can do anything I set my mind to.
Say it often enough, you’ll come to believe and achieve what you set your mind to.
(Incidentally, this affirmation is based on a children’s story I read to my grandson regularly!)
